Introduction

This week we will be covering chapter 5 in the text book.

What You Will Do

• Chapter 5 Discussion Post
• Review Chapter 5 PowerPoint
• Chapter 5 Case Study Questions: Only complete questions 1, 2, 3, 7 from case study 5.2. Then questions 1, 2, 3, 5 from case study 5.3
• Chapter 5 Quiz: You will have 55 minutes to complete a variety of questions that were covered in chapter 5.
• Review/Prepare Interview Project Assignment and Due dates

 

Chapter Learning Objectives:

1. The debate over whether corporations are moral agents and can be meaningfully said to have moral responsibilities
2. The controversy between the narrow view and the broader view of corporate responsibility
3. Three key arguments in this debate: the invisible-hand argument, the let-government-do-it argument, and the business-can’t-handle-it argument
4. The importance of institutionalizing ethics within corporations and how this may be done
