Welcome!
Welcome to Business Ethics
Hello, this is PHIL 1213 Business Ethics. My name is Mrs. Adney. I look forward to teaching you all this semester. Here is to a great semester!
Please email me at taler.adney@okstate.edu if you have any questions.
How to be successful
To be successful in the course you will need to complete and understand the class assignments. Everything you need should be on the home tab within each weeks module. You will need a text book for this course as well as internet and a computer. The textbook used will be Business Ethics by William H. Shaw 9th edition. ISBN #978-1305582088. You can buy or rent the textbook from the bookstore or if you already have a Cengage Unlimited account for this semester you can use that for this class but please note that you will only utilize Cengage for the E-Book. All course work will be completed in canvas, not Cengage. Below is an image of the textbook for reference:
The assignment descriptions and break downs can be found below and on the announcements page.
Weekly Discussions:
The discussion questions are worth 10 points. This assignment consists of an original post from the student which is to be written in paragraph form while answering all parts of the provided prompt, and then replying to two other classmates post with a substantial reply. Simply answering "yes, no, or I agree" will not receive credit.
Chapter Essay Questions:
There will be specific case studies and specific case study questions assigned each week. These assignments are worth 50 points. Each case study is worth 25 points and there are two assigned each week. Please answer these questions in paragraph form per each question. There should be enough information in the answers that all parts of the given questions are answered. To receive full credit every question must be answered in its entirety and enough support to justify the answers.
Chapter Quizzes:
There will be a chapter quiz every week. These quizzes are worth 40 points. Students will have 55 minutes and 1 attempt to complete this assignment. The quizzes are open book. I don't advise doing them as a group as the quiz questions will be shuffled and no two quizzes will be the same.
Interview Project:
This is a 200 point assignment that has two parts. The first part is the conducted student interview that is worth 50 points and is due at the mid term. The second part is the student questions and is worth 150 points. This is due at the end of the semester. Please note that a student cannot be successful with this project if the first part is not completed.
Again, please email me with any questions you may have. I hope we all have a wonderful semester!
Thanks,
Mrs. Adney
